Caldwell County will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event on Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at STAT, Inc., 2550 Hickory Boulevard, Lenoir.
This free one-day event gives Caldwell County residents the opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste, pesticides, and unwanted medications. They can also bring documents that need to be shredded.
“We hope people will take advantage of this event to properly dispose of items that we do not accept at our convenience sites,” said Public Facilities Director Bryan Davis.
Certified companies, who will ensure proper handling and disposal of the waste collected, will be on site accepting items such as: household cleaners, paint products, automotive products, pesticides, fertilizers, kerosene, batteries, pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, and fluorescent tubes. Electronics will not be accepted because those items can be disposed of at any Caldwell County Convenience site.
In addition to household hazardous waste, the Register of Deeds will also offer free shredding and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office will take unwanted medications and prescription drugs.
“Thanks to the support of our partners, we are able to provide these services at no cost to county residents,” said Davis.
